The hounds of the desert wind are spectacularly fast, second only
to the great feline hunter - the Cheetah, a cat that at some time
in its long past shrugged off its caine tendencies. It, like the Saluki,
was, and, in some countries still is, a favourite of Arab hunters.
Comparisons between the anatomy and hunting technique of Cheetah and
Sigh hounds reveal startling similarities. But where as the feline
has explosive short term speed similar to Greyhound, the Saluki with
its combination of speed and endurance is more aligned to the WIld
Dog, another of Africa's endangered animal species. Although its not
a true dog, it courses its prey in the same manner as the wolf and
Saluki. In the past 50 years the wild dog has disappeared from 25
of the 39 countries in which it was previously recorded asnd now it
is found mainly in Southern Africa.
RUN WITH THE WIND has a strong visual style enhanced by the uwse
of ultra slow motion where studies were appropriate.
